Linn Health Care Center’s Perfect Survey: Third Year in a Row
Cheering and clapping erupted from the chapel at Linn Health Care Center last Friday where the staff had huddled to hear the state health department inspector’s report. The inspector announced that Linn Health Care Center received a perfect survey.
This is the third year in a row that the East Providence nursing home was declared as quality care, deficiency-free.
”It is evident that our staff really care about the residents and are doing their best for them,” said David R. Velander, Administrator of the Linn Health Care Center.
The average number of health deficiencies in Rhode Island’s nursing homes in 2013 was 2.2, and for the United States it was 6.8. Earlier this year, Linn Health Care Center was awarded a five-star quality care rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. The Five-Star Rating System was developed by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid to allow consumers to compare nursing homes and to foster improvements in the care provided by nursing homes. It is based on rigorous health inspections, quality measures, and a survey of the staffing hours of registered nurses and other health care professionals. This prestigious honor is awarded to the top 10% of all nursing homes in the United States and means that a facility ranks much above average compared to other nursing homes.
Linn Health Care Center is an 84 bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center with semi-private and private resident rooms, which boasts a mission of ensuring that all residents receive the best treatment and care during recovery from illness or injury in a homelike setting. It is a subsidiary of United Methodist Elder Care, which also offers independent and assisted living apartments at Winslow Gardens — which is adjoined to the health care center — and at Arbor Hill Assisted Living on Federal Hill in Providence.
